Hospitality was never really the curated, clinical hotel setting in which low wage subordinates, at high turnover frequency, cater to the standardised needs of anonymised guests by the hundreds. Hospitality has evolved as well as returned into the forgotten art of co-creating a blissful, momentary senscape, which makes both guest and host feel equally at home in each other's temporary company.
- Louise

When the homestead is not rented out as an independent homestead experience, all guest rooms are offered for hosted, co-creating visits.

"Hosted" means that your're co-living with me (or another host appointed inhabitant).

"Co-creating" means sharing certain facilities, as well as sharing household duties, such as taking turns in cooking and cleaning, cutting firewood, snowshoveling and keeping the stove going in winter.

PRIVATE CHAMBERS

Below, you can check out the separate, private accommodation offers in the residential house.

About the pricing

Sensory Academy encourages travellers to lean into this place for a while. We reward slowtravellers, wanderers and overlanders by gradually reducing the room rate, if you settle for a moment and smell the roses before heading home or onwards.

Nights 1-3: standard room rate NOK950/night

Nights 4-7 (at 25% off standard room rate): NOK710/night

Nights 8-14 (at 50% off standard room rate): NOK475/night

Nights 15-29 (at 75% off standard room rate): NOK237/night

Example:

a total stay of 29 nights will be calculated in the following way:

(3x950)+(4x710)+(7x475)+(14x237)= 2850+2840+3325+3318 = NOK12.333,00,-

...which gives you an average room rate of NOK425/night (average 55% off of standard room rate).

SUMMER CABIN

A simple, unpretentious two-room cabin is also available, for guests wanting a bit more space and privacy over the course of at least five nights successively. Still shared facilities in the residential house.

THE SHARED FACILITIES

The Kitchen

The kitchen of the main house is the heart of this place. Still to this day authentic 1950'ies style. Equipped solely with a firewoodstove and simple electrical appliances, cooking in this kitchen is a bit like travelling back in time. Which is the point of it, as it makes for intimate social presence, sensory awareness and a very cozy ambience.

The Bathroom

The shared bathroom is a 1980'es constructional addition to the original, classic post WW2 restoration house. Easily accessible just at the foot of the staircase to the guestroom loft, and a bit secluded from the shared livingroom. It holds no luxurious ammenities, but is simple with a toilet, a spacious shower cabinet and a sink. It also contains a washing machine.

The Livingroom

The shared livingroom is the local "library" for relaxation and contemplation, where walls are plastered in simple, old wood bookcases. Located between the kitchen and the private host accomodation, the livingroom is equipped with a total of five seating spaces with each their own lighting source.
