Due to the remoteness, we understand that arriving to, as well as departing from, this location can be a challenge. But it's actually not that bad. Lots of people stop by on their way to or from North Cape by motorcycle, or even on bicycle. Some rent cars in the airport, or drive all the way from home in their own... All have different travel styles. We endorse any kind of transportation if it can bring you to our paradise here, motorized and non-motorized transportation. But here is some info for you, if you prefer to travel by public transportation. At the bottom there are also some tips for travellers by car and motorcycle.
By train via Narvik
If you're into those nostalgic train journeys, we recommend you try the European collaborative railway solutions through Europe to Narvik. How about catching the night train from Stockholm and arrive well rested in Narvik, ready to take on the rest of your journey?
By bus from Tromsø or Alta
Nearest regional busstop is called "Sekkemo E6 (Kvænangen)", and is midway on the route of regional bus # 150, which passes by daily between Tromsø and Alta. The busstop is located 14 km from the homestead, out on the E6 road.
There is also a local busstop right outside the homestead, but only a school bus passes here a couple of times a day. In the travel planner it's called "Pekkajávri". You will actually be able to use the school bus as the schedule makes room for you to get to the village of Burfjord and back, when you need access to the convenience store COOP.
Available travel apps can offer digital travel planning and ticket purchase. A useful webpage is Svipper, which shows time tables and busfares in English, here you'll also find the link to the apps.

By car, motorcycle or bicycle
The easiest and most conveinient way of travelling may be by car, motorcycle or bicycle, and you can find us easily via GPS.
You're advised to stay updated on traffic conditions regarding local roads, tunnels and mountain passes. YR weather services and Norwegian Public Roads Administration are the agencies to consult for local info on weather, traffic and valid drivers licences for driving in Norway.
Winter conditions are special, if you're not used to driving in winter/alpine conditions. You have to be well prepared for all kinds of weather, for icy snowy, windy roads, and for occationally interrupted travel itineraries, due to closed roads etc.
You should always equip the vehicle with winter tires or studded tires between October 15th and May 15th. Also, make sure to have extra blankets, water, food, and warm clothes in the car. Add antifreeze to your window cleaner, and anti condensation to your fuel (both can be bought at any gas station up here). Also, bring a shovel or in the worst case scenario, snow chains.
